The film (translated as An Early Frost ), released in 2010, is the directorial debut of legendary Serbian singer-songwriter Đorđe Balašević . A sprawling historical drama, it serves as a cinematic expansion of Balašević's most famous narrative ballad, "Priča o Vasi Ladačkom".

The production was a family affair; Balašević wrote, directed, and composed the music, while his wife Olivera and children Jovana and Aleksa held prominent roles.
